Start with the basics

Shop by the product’s intended use and your skin’s tolerance. A gentle cleanser, a moisturizer and a sunscreen suited to you are categories to consider. Follow labels; this guide does not diagnose skin concerns.

Lotion or cream?

Lotion is often lighter in texture, while cream is often richer. Individual formulas vary. Compare ingredient lists, fragrance and package size rather than assuming one texture is right for everyone.

Change one thing at a time

Introducing several new products together makes it harder to identify an irritating one. Patch test according to suitable product guidance and stop using a product if it causes a reaction.

Do not buy a cure claim

A cosmetic cannot be assumed to treat menopause, eczema or a medical condition. Seek professional advice for persistent irritation or changing skin findings. More expensive does not automatically mean more suitable.

Read the seller and variant

Check the exact size, seller, seal information and return policy on Amazon. Avoid confusing a multipack with a single bottle. Use manufacturer directions for storage and shelf life.
